Conversation

I had the opportunity to conversate with an older woman at The Reading Hospital where I am employed about her mother being in emergency care. As I was walking back to the Dietary department after delivering one of my food trucks, I saw her looking around confused. I immediately asked her if she needed assistance and she said yes. As I walked her to the main lobby, I asked her if she minded me asking her why she was here and she told she was visiting her mother who had fallen and broken her arm. We spoke more about her mother and I eventually brought up my grandma and how she was also having many health issues. I usually do not talk to the older visitors but she looked stressed out and in need of expressing herself. She thanked me and looked relieved for giving her directions and talking to her which made me feel good about making a difference in someone's day.

Second Life

As I explored Second Life I found it to be somewhat entertaining but I can see myself getting tired of it since I'm use to playing action and shooting games. My favorite part about it was flying since I normally don't do that on other video games. I've never used something like this so it was very different. Overall I would say it was a pretty good experience and I can see why people with disabilities enjoy it so much. They can live out entirely different lives from what they do on a daily basis. I might try it on another occassion and see what other things I learn to do since it is a bit complicated.

My Picture

The reason I chose to put up this particular picture is because I'm the singer in a music group called I.D.P. and this is the front cover to our biography. Music is a big part of my life and this picture represents me well.

The GRAMMYS

FANS INVITED TO HELP SELECT HIT SONG FOR BON JOVI PERFORMANCE ON THE 52ND ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS

The Annual Grammy Awards show is the biggest night in music and this year Bon Jovi performed for the first time. With the use of the Internet CBS provided a special interactive fan vote which allowed viewers to vote for the song they wanted Bon Jovi to perform. Anyone could do this from a computer or mobile device.

The use of new media is impacting some of the biggest shows on television and just a few years ago CBS would have never thought of using the Internet to allow viewers to vote for the song they wanted the artist to perform live on the biggest show in music, The Grammy Awards. These are innovative ways in which television networks are trying to use new media to attract younger viewership.

How has new media effected television networks?
